Newby's Contracting is seeking a skilled and seasoned heavy civil grading foreman to manage operations and supervise staff across various construction sites. The foreman will act as a vital bridge between our team and supervisors, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the project's successful completion while maintaining a close watch on material costs, permits, and workforce safety. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a solid background in heavy civil construction, excellent leadership capabilities, and an ability to oversee others' work and make quick decisions. Organizational skills and a strong emphasis on safety at all times are paramount. Given the physical demands of this job, candidates must have excellent physical stamina, the resilience to work under all weather conditions, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Grading Foreman Duties
Supervise and ensure strict adherence to safety regulations across all construction sites.
Develop work rosters in line with crew availability, contractor schedules, and labor laws while keeping track of staff attendance.
Manage day-to-day tasks based on priorities and plans, making modifications as required due to weather conditions, supply arrivals, or workforce changes.
Delegate roles and individual projects to crew members and contractors efficiently.
Recruit, onboard, guide, oversee, and train team members.
Allocate sufficient resources and personnel to meet safety requirements, abide by regulations, follow best practices, comply with laws, and adhere to the project timeline.
Promote safe usage of tools, machinery, and equipment, providing training on safety equipment, helmets, and protocols.
Establish and supervise quality standards across all construction sites.
Oversee and control project budgets for all locations.
Address any conflicts or misunderstandings that may arise on-site in a swift and cordial manner.
Consistently update supervisors, site engineers, and officials on the project's progress.
Grading Foreman Requirements
At least 3 years of credible experience as a heavy civil grading foreman.
Familiarity with standard construction equipment and materials.
High school diploma or trade certification (such as electrician or carpenter).
Comprehensive understanding of construction best practices, maintenance and usage of equipment, and OSHA regulations.
Proficiency in interpreting drawings, plans, and blueprints and communicating this information to others.
Exceptional organizational and leadership abilities.
Effective communication and reporting skills.
Strong problem-solving and math abilities.
Physical fitness and stamina to handle job activities.
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Newby's Contracting is seeking to find an experienced tri-axle dump truck driver. Experience in driving lowboy hauling equipment is a plus.

Current Class B CDL with no restrictions (Class A is a Plus)
Clean driving record

Are you a seasoned professional in concrete construction looking for a leadership role? Newby’s Contracting is in search of a skilled Concrete Foreman to take charge of our concrete crew.
As the Concrete Foreman, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating on-site activities related to concrete projects. Your primary responsibilities will include directing the concrete crew, ensuring project efficiency, and collaborating closely with the Superintendent to uphold quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision to the concrete crew to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
Regularly update the Superintendent on work progress and project status.
Showcase proficiency in various concrete project types.
Demonstrate expertise in concrete work, surveying, and finishing techniques.
Interpret drawings and specifications accurately to guide the crew effectively.
Monitor crew organization, adherence to mix ratios, and compliance with wage regulations.
Generate accurate reports on time and materials used.
Enforce safety protocols and offer guidance for improving safety practices continuously.
Undertake any additional duties as needed.
Requirements
This position requires 3 years prior experience as a Concrete Supervisor in the construction industry, preferably with a high school diploma or GED. Essential attributes include strong organizational skills, the ability to follow instructions, and effective communication with colleagues and management.
Physical Demands
Sustained physical exertion, including prolonged standing during an eight-hour shift.
Capability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, and crouching as needed.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 90 pounds occasionally.
Manual dexterity to handle various tools and construction materials.
Physical agility involves stretching, proper leg placement, and repetitive motions with arms and hands.
Constant alertness to multiple activities on the construction site.
Walking on uneven surfaces in diverse weather conditions.
Willingness to obtain certification for confined space entry, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 20 feet deep using ladders or crawling.
Ability to safely climb on and off heavy equipment.
